This sale is becoming a community tradition.
Last year, a portion of the proceeds went to support relief efforts in Los Angeles. This year, all proceeds from the sale will be donated to breast cancer research and care through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Julie Lake, a good friend of mine and a member of the North Shore community is living with breast cancer. She’s the woman pictured here, rocking a pair of boots from the Shed. When I asked if she’d be willing to share a few words, this is what she wrote:
Getting a diagnosis of cancer is a gut punch for sure. Priorities shift, life intensifies. Feelings of joy and sorrow wind themselves through everything and become almost indistinguishable.
For me, community become essential. People showing up for me in vivid full spectrum color. Bringing support and surprising me with unexpected comfort and strength.
A gift -of sorts- to learn how much love and positive energy is out there.
